Positive Relating is a resource for some of the basics of being human: communication, relationships, conflict, and decision making.
We empower individuals and groups to tap into the potential of compassionate connection and transformative dialogue in these areas of their lives by offering one-on-one and couples support, mediation, meeting facilitation, dialogue circles, trainings, and workshops. Our work draws from a synthesis of relationship-supporting intentions and practices such as Nonviolent Communication (NVC), Peer Counseling, Circle Processes, Attachment Parenting, and Parenting By Connection, which themselves are frameworks based on a combination of psycho-social literature, eastern philosophies, indigenous practices, empirical research, and decades of peace-building work in schools, families, prisons, social change projects, and violent conflicts.
Positive Relating also aims to provide practical support to those who are passionate about cultivating compassionate connection and transformative dialogue. We plan to do this primarily by offering a collective organizational structure within which members can benefit from institutional visibility and outreach, professional development opportunities, shared materials, group insurance plans, emotional support, and project partnerships.
Finally, through continual introspection, feedback, and measurable evaluations, we intent to improve the effectiveness of our work in a variety of different relational and cultural contexts, and share our learningwith our members and the greater public.
